Joint Art Exhibit on the Creek

The C.Burr Artz Library and the Delaplaine are putting their heads together and joint-hosting a wonderful exhibit, “Frederick County Glimpses Past and Present,” that will celebrate the transformation of Frederick City from the 19th century through present day.

Photos of the city’s “past,” from the 19th century and early-to-mid 20th century, will be featured in the Library. These photographs from the FCPL archival collection will be on display in the main entrance way and in the Maryland Room on the second floor.

The Delaplaine will feature a variety of artworks by local artists, including paintings by Deborah Lovelace Richardson and Paula Rubin Wexler, photography by Brady Wilks and Harriet Wise, and sculpture by Homer Yost.

The two facilities are located along Carroll Creek Park in downtown Frederick, the Delaplaine at 40 South Carroll Street and the C. Burr Artz Library at 110 East Patrick Street. Diane Sibbison, the Exhibitions Manager at the Delaplaine, says,  “with both sites only about one block apart along Carroll Creek, we hope that people will visit both portions of the exhibit… It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring local art and local history together, and, as Mary [Mannix, the Maryland Room Manager,] said, raise the visibility of both.”

The public is invited to opening receptions at both locations on Saturday, January 7 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. This exhibit will be open at both locations through February 19th and will be available for viewing daily.

For more information, contact the Delaplaine at 301-698-0656 or www.delaplaine.org.
